Born in a Saharawi refugee camp in Algeria, Aziza Brahim was nominated for an award in 2017 for Abbar el Hamada. The follow-up was recorded in collaboration with Spanish artist Amparo Sánchez, Brahim’s expressive voice complemented by subtle use of electronica on a heartfelt album about exile and the plight of her homeland, but with a global perspective.
