The notion of Kidjo covering a 1980 post-punk new wave album by a bunch of New York hipsters may have seemed an improbable one. Yet her reworking of Talking Heads’ seminal Remain in Light proved to be inspired and resulted in a dense and dynamic global-funk masterpiece. Kidjo won Best Artist in 2013, World Pioneer in 2018, and this album was a Top of the World in #139.
