After years playing with the late Ali Farka Touré, Mali’s Afel Bocoum released his solo debut in 1999. He’s been relatively quiet in recent years, but 2020’s Lindé, co-produced by Nick Gold and Damon Albarn, restored him to the public eye with a masterful set steeped in his Songhai heritage but with help from a bunch of sympathetic global collaborators.
