Over the two decades since his 1998 debut, Tangos Bajos, the Argentinian has twisted tango into an intriguing array of globe-trotting shapes and hybrid experiments. On his latest album he shifts even further from the rhythms and rubric of traditional tango to create a cool, contemporary collage of 21st-century Buenos Aires that is as spirited as it is eclectic.
