Featuring the cream of London’s Afro-jazz crop alongside maestros such as Jali Bakary Konte (kora) and N’famady Kouyaté (balafon), the 16-piece Balimaya Project took five years to make their debut. Balimaya means ‘Essence of Kinship’ in Maninka, and Wolo So is a unique hybrid of traditional Mande music and contemporary jazz. A Top of the World in the October 2021 issue (#171).
