Turkish saz player Gültekin has recorded two duo albums with Armenian duduk player Vardan Hovanissian, but his tribute to one of his teachers, Talip Özkan, who died in 2010, is his solo debut. The varied tracks here not only display his virtuosity on the instrument, but give a wonderful introduction to the intricacy and intimacy of the saz’s repertoire.
