The Senegalese griot Ablaye Cissoko has taken his kora into a variety of imaginative and unexpected contexts in recent years and here teams up with the French diatonic accordion maestro Cyrille Brotto. The sonorities of their instruments chime perfectly in this album, the accordion adding a melancholy drone and Gallic flavour to Ablaye’s elegant arpeggios and warm vocals.
