A hereditary Mande griot and the son of Amadu Bansang Jobarteh, Gambia’s most celebrated kora player, Dawda actually began his musical career as a drummer, only taking up the kora after moving to Denmark in 1999. Since then, he has collaborated with jazz, rock and Indian musicians. Here, he recorded with the classical Admeta String Quartet, whose classy arrangements he scored.
