Back in the 1960s Cooder and Taj Mahal played together in a blues band called Rising Sons when both men were inspired by the acoustic blues of the veteran guitar and harmonica duo of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee. Reuniting half a century on, now veterans themselves, the pair have fashioned a set of robust and joyously earthy remakes of numbers from their role model duo’s songbook.
