Grammy-winning singer and activist Angélique Kidjo and Afrobeats star Davido have released a collaborative single ‘Joy’, alongside a new music video. The duo came together this summer in New York to create the uplifting track that ‘radiates positivity.’

After collaborating on ‘Na Money’ (which also featured The Cavemen) on Davido’s 2023 album Timeless, Joy is the second time the duo has worked together and a returning of a favour with Davido now guesting on Kidjo’s song. Containing a mix of lyrics in English and Yoruba, the track highlights the significance of resilience while also celebrating Kidjo and Davido’s musical bond. This connection was further solidified earlier this year after a joint performance at Davido's sold-out O2 Arena show in London.

On X, Kidjo expressed her excitement about the collaboration: “Thank you my friend for bringing your special energy! It’s time to FEEL THE JOY!”

The track is Kidjo’s second collaborative single this year, following ‘Sunlight to My Soul’ with Diane Warren and the Soweto Gospel Choir. Kidjo isn’t new to collaborating, as across a career that has now spanned four decades, she has worked with a range of artists from across the globe, including Burna Boy, Ibrahim Maalouf, Sampa the Great and Yo-Yo Ma.

'Joy' is out today accompanied by a new music video which you can find here.
