New-gen indie-folk traditionalists and dedicated resurrectionists of lost folk standards, Broadside Hacks, have launched their very own Patreon page, a regularly updated archive packed to the brim with footage of the cooperative’s eclectic Folk Club events.
For only £2 a month, subscribers can view more than 100 videos, and enjoy such Hacks-related happenings as the troupe’s Songs of the Wicker Man concert from December 2023, a performance marking 50 years since the original release of Robin Hardy’s cult folk-horror flick, The Wicker Man; an exclusive interview with Peggy Seeger conducted by artist and activist, Mataio Austin Dean of the Shovel Dance Collective; plus The Broadside Hack, a documentary exploring the influence of traditional music on a new stalwart cohort of dynamic folk devotees.
Also available to watch are live sets by Martin Carthy, Shovel Dance Collective, Junior Brother and Gwenifer Raymond, while forthcoming attractions include a series celebrating the 75th anniversary of the iconic Folkways Records imprint, and The Life & Songs of Bert Jansch, a podcast featuring musician and writer Jon Wilks in conversation with Jacqui McShee and Wizz Jones.
