EFG London Jazz Festival presents free one-dayer
International artists from jazz and beyond line-up for a sunny day at the docks
Kefaya, who play at the EFG London Jazz Festival Summer Stage
For the first time, the EFG London Jazz Festival will host a full day of free music with their ‘Summer Stage,’ which will take place on Saturday, August 31, at London’s Royal Albert Dock.
The line-up of the Summer Stage focuses on the eclectic, international side of jazz. Headlined by London’s many-legged dance machine The Turbans bringing their pan-global mix of Middle Eastern, Eastern European and everywhere else music, the day will also see sets from Kefaya putting their electro-jazz spin on Afghan folk songs, British-Caribbean jazz saxophonist Camilla George, brass-and-percussion group Kinetika Bloco and rising vocal stars Urban Flames.
As well as music, the Summer Stage will also feature workshops and family activities, making it a perfect taster event for the EFG London Jazz Festival proper. The event is part of Join the Docks, a new festival series of over 150 arts events around East London’s Royal Docks from July to September.
For more information on the Summer Stage, see the EFG London Jazz Festival website.
