The November 2021 (#172) issue of Songlines (on sale October 8), will be a climate crisis special, surveying activist-musicians from every corner of the globe who are doing their vital part to address and speak out about the worsening worldwide environmental situation.

With this in mind, we thought it an apt occasion to shine the light on this audio-visual delight, a deeply evocative collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Ingrid Henderson and animator Cat Bruce. The work, a commission by NatureScot for the Year of Coast and Waters 2020/21, is a celebration of Scotland’s spectacular coastline and marine life which also raises the alarm over the perilous state of our shorelines and waters.

This stirring venture provided the catalyst for Henderson's forthcoming sea-faring full-length, also called Message in a Bottle, which drops on September 17 and will be reviewed in the December 2021 issue (#173) of Songlines.
