Grand Latin music curators ZZK Records are getting ready to roll the celluloid on Luzmila and the Birds, their long-gestating documentary on Bolivian Pachamama, the ever-inspirational, Luzmila Carpio.
This captivating film explores Carpio’s sensitive, magical birdsongs, her remarkable channelling of avian languages through the Quechua tongue as she communes with nature, travelling like a protagonist from one of Hermann Hesse’s meditative dramas, between temporal and sacred worlds. It’s the story of an artist guided by music, a cultural ambassador boldly defending her heritage, language and the land which she inhabits.
Carpio’s latest full-length, Inti Watana – El Retoro del Sol (Return to the Sun), suitably see the light of day on September 22, the equinox when that great big fireball in the sky crosses the celestial equator. To coincide with these seismic events, ZZK presents the official preview of Luzmila and the Birds, which is available to watch below.
