Monsieur Doumani: The Owl Service

Cypriot avant-folk trio Monsieur Doumani premiere a paranoia-inducing drama for their track, 'Koukkoufkiáos', a bubo-centred nocturnal boon

Taken from their album, Pissourin, Monsieur Doumani's 'Koukkoufkiáos' recounts an escape from the captivity of night in the guise of an owl. Rousing tzouras and retro-sounding synth oscillations accompany the flight, as our winged hero evades magic carpets and indulges in a spot of astral crop rotation during his fantastical journey.

Anna Fotiadou's accompanying video, which features the well-known Cypriot actor Panayiotis Kyriakou, recasts the track as a paranoia-inducing drama set within the claustrophobic, book-bedecked aisles of the Cyprus State Library.
