Olcay Bayir finds her peace amid the pandemic
Help Musicians enable the Kurdish vocalist to find (and fund) her voice with a new EP release and video
Despite last year's first lockdown putting pay to her UK concert tour just two days before its scheduled commencement, Kurdish singer Olcay Bayir was still lucky enough to be among those 41 British artists to receive funding (as well as a much needed boost to her morale) from the UK’s oldest musicians’ charity, Help Musicians, via the organisation's Do It Differently fund.
Designed specifically to support musicians struggling to adapt to the rigours and confinements of the pandemic, the extra financial support provided Bayir with the means to express herself via her latest release, the four-track EP, Inside.
Bayir will give a livestream concert, produced by The Listening Room and Roots Live from Saltaire, Yorkshire, on 4 June at 6:30pm (GMT). For more details visit here.
