Orquesta Romantica Milonguera announce a new London show
Discover the subtle art of communicating through tango this June 6 with Orquesta Romantica Milonguera
Orquesta Romantica Milonguera
My tango instructor, Lucía, always said that tango demands “every bit of awareness from your body”. “It asks even for your breath,” she would say. “For breath can be the best way to ask your partner for a certain movement. Just listen.” If you wish to test out those subtle language skills that tango can initiate, then Orquesta Romantica Milonguera’s concert at St James's Church on June 6, as a part of London Tango Week, is the perfect occasion.
The ensemble, based in Buenos Aires and created in 2016, is one of the best young tango numbers to come out of Argentina in this decade. They are touring Europe once more and will bring their old-fashioned but open-minded proposal to London’s summer. The orchestra consists of a piano, two bandoneons, two singers, a double bass, and three violins ―a female bandoneonist, a female singer and two female violinists mark the positive changes this genre is experiencing, and that’s not the only refreshing attribute of the group.
La Romántica is also developing its own narrative on YouTube, where fans can watch a musical miniseries and clips in a way that old tango pioneers would never dream of. There, you can check the elaborate atmosphere the group is trying to generate and travel back in time, but with a mindset where everyone is accepted the way they are. The London concert on June 6 will be part of Orquesta Romantica Milonguera's virtual and physical collection of soulful experiences, and you will discover that despite the virtual world we now live in, the body is still the best way to connect with someone.
You can find tickets for the show on the London Tango Week website.
