Sawhney’s Immigrant songs to be released via Sony Music Masterworks
Songlines’ October 2019 cover star and last year’s winner of the magazine’s World Pioneer award, Nitin Sawhney, is set to release his new album, Immigrants, later this year via Sony Music Masterworks

A unique celebration of émigrés culture across the globe, Nitin Sawhney's impending long-player will find the British-Indian musician, producer and composer in a new partnership with Sony Music Masterworks, ‘showcasing creations inspired and contributed to by artists who either identify themselves as immigrants, are from immigrant heritage or wish to express support for those international immigrants who have found themselves judged or disadvantaged by pure accident of birth.’
The first single 'Down the Road' will be released on February 28 and features regular Sawhney collaborator Aref Durvesh on tabla, along with guest vocalists YVA (Eeh-vah), Dhruv Sangari and Nicki Wells.
Sawhney will take the album for a UK spin later this year, with the following dates on the itinerary: Birmingham Town Hall (Nov 24), Manchester Albert Hall (Nov 25), Leeds Town Hall (Nov 26), Brighton Dome (Nov 28) and London Roundhouse (Nov 29).
