Songlines Encounters Festival 2023: Full Programme Announced
Songlines Encounters Festival returns to Kings Place between May 18-24
The Songlines Encounters Festival returns to Kings Place this May (18-24) for one of its most exhilarating line-ups ever with a grand celebration of great voices, instrumental prowess, danceable mayhem, sacred ritual and even a dose of 'zombie-folk.' There will be music from Mali, Colombia, Turkey, Georgia, Estonia, Tibet and the skies above, with Vieux Farka Touré, Gaye Su Akyol, Constantinople, Meridian Brothers, Ialoni and Puuluup among the season's many highlights.
Festival-goers will be able to savour the sonic makeover of the venue's Hall Two, which has just benefitted from the installation of a d&b audiotechnik Soundscape (only in use for certain gigs). “As an analogy,” say Kings Place, “you might think of it as like turning from Standard Definition to High Definition television. But maybe it would be better to think of it as like turning from Standard Definition television to gazing through an open window at a captivating view.”
