Sounds and Colours seek Rio grands
Latin specialists launch vinyl campaign for Rio de Janeiro compilation
Those committed Latin American culture curators at Sounds and Colours, have launched a special time-limited vinyl fundraiser for their new compilation, Hidden Waters: Strange and Sublime Sounds of Rio de Janeiro. Compiled by Joe Osborne and Russ Slater, Hidden Waters features over 20 groundbreaking artists from Rio's resurgent music scene, intent on bringing an avant-garde edge to bossa nova, samba, jazz and funk, a vital document of a city brimming with creativity and energy.
Boasting essential cuts from Ana Frango Elétrico, Thiago Nassif, Kassin, Ava Rocha and more, the album will be released on gatefold vinyl via Bandcamp Vinyl with accompanying artwork set on Guanabara Bay by Rio’s much-loved album cover designer Caio Paiva, a sleeve insert of two essays written by eminent music journalist Leonardo Lichote and professor/critic Bernardo Oliveira, and extensive track-by-track notes written by the participating artists themselves.
