UPBEAT Announce Best New Talent Award
Support the next generation of emerging European artists and win yourself a trip to Tallinn Music Week
Julia Kozakova, one of 10 nominees contesting the UPBEAT Best New Talent Award
UPBEAT, the European showcase platform for world music, is shining a spotlight on some of the finest musicians the continent has to offer with the launch of its Best New Talent Award.
Ten nominees, shortlisted by a jury of experts, vie for a raft of unprecedented career opportunities and, potentially, a once-in-a-lifetime shot at international adulation, with the winner announced in September. The contenders cover a range of styles, from Estonian zither-centric folk pop to esoteric Balkan tape manipulation, with the public invited to select their pick from among the following artists: Дeva (Hungary), Duo Ruut (Estonia), Erdőfű Band (Hungary), Júlia Kozáková (Slovakia), Lenhart Tapes (Serbia), Magalí Sare & Manel Fortià (Spain-Catalonia), Perija (North Macedonia), Suonno D’Ajere (Italy), Wernyhora (Poland) and Zarina Prvasevda (North Macedonia).
Each vote not only supports the work of an innovative artist committed to reinvigorating the tenets of Old World tradition, but also offers its caster the chance to win precious tickets for the 2024 edition of Tallinn Music Week. So, what are you waiting for?
