The music of legendary Ethiopian artist Ayalèw Mesfin pushed back vigorously against the dictatorial oppression that gripped his country in the 1970s and, like many of his contemporaries, he struggled against obscurity amid the political turmoil. After his music went unheard for over 40 years, Mesfin finally made his first ever European performance, last November, at Le Guess Who? in Utrecht. Check out the video below.
