All is Not Forgotten follows on from Miller's 2018 release Mercury, and a very pleasant follow-up it is too. New and traditional tunes and lyrics intertwine through the album, all accompanied by Miller's bright, crisp vocals. Considering that she has won the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards Singer of the Year title an unprecedented three times as well as a 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award, you know you are in for something special.
‘Loving Hannah’ is an effective and atmospheric interpretation of the traditional folk song, while ‘While the Whole World Sleeps’ is a beautiful cover of a Findlay Napier and Euan Burton song. Closer ‘Cholesterol’ is a fun, playful yet intimate ode to the Scottish diet while the title-track demonstrates Miller's skill as a co-writer with Kris Drever and Euan Burton. All is Not Forgotten is a refl ective, quiet yet powerful album. Beautifully recorded with some very evocative musicianship it's a sweet and enjoyable release. Miller's voice is the real highlight here and it is hard not to be entranced by her vivid, pure and sweet vocals.
