HariSongs is a new label set up to re-release some of the music in the family archive of the late George Harrison of The Beatles. Harrison had a very close association with Shankar, resulting in many collaborations, of which Chants of India was his last. Shankar, as its composer and arranger, described this project as the most challenging one of his life. Originally released by Angel Records in 1997, it featured sacred texts in Sanskrit from the Vedas and other ancient Hindu scriptures sung with the addition of an array of Indian and Western instruments.

In Concert 1972 is a duet of sitar and sarod originally released by Apple Records in 1972; both Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan went on to become the most internationally influential Indian musicians in history. Accompanied by the late Alla Rakha on tabla, this is a fine example of master musicians at the zenith of their powers. The high point is the second piece, easily the best ‘Raga Manj Khamaj’ one is ever likely to have heard. A regular in Shankar's repertoire, with versions available on many other albums, this almost hour-long performance is a rarity, during which sitar and sarod flow seamlessly to sound like one instrument while Alla Rakha's tabla is a reminder of what made him unique.
