Guitarist Dylan Fowler, accordionist Jamie Smith and violinist Oliver Wilson-Dickson have all worked together on projects such as The Devil's Violin, Szapora and The Ian McMillan Orchestra while Wilson-Dickson and Smith are also well known as the frontline of Jamie Smith's Mabon. This second studio album under the ‘Alaw’ banner finds them continuing to explore Welsh traditional music and original song.
There are contributions from guest vocalists Georgia Ruth and Gwilym Bowen Rhys on nearly half the 11 tracks. The enviable instrumental suppleness and subtlety of the trio shines most brightly, though, when they're energetically reimagining a well-loved melody, as on the track ‘Santiana’, their stirring Welsh version of the well-known shanty with words by J Glyn Davies.
