Don't be fooled by the short tracklisting on Lebanese duo Praed's fourth album. The four tracks near an hour of listening. Accompanied by a striking block colour album cover design, this is a bold and unapologetic effort. However, this meshing of Arabic sounds with electronic trance and psychedelic beats makes for an interesting but not necessarily pleasurable listening experience. With tracks that often feel physically grating to listen to with long telephonic intros, this doesn't feel like a survival kit but rather the sounds of a Kafkaesque doomsday itself. Given the dystopic quality of the sound and how visceral a physical reaction it evokes, it's hard not to see the album as a strong potential accompaniment to something else – it would make a very impressive movie soundtrack for example.
