A decade after forming for a one-off concert at the 2014 Vieilles Charrues Festival, The Celtic Social Club marks a milestone with Inventory, an expansive 20-track ‘Best Of’ collection that celebrates their boundary-breaking musical journey. The French-Irish band crafts a vibrant musical tapestry that seamlessly blends traditional Celtic sounds with rock energy. The album showcases the band’s impressive range, from driving instrumental tracks such as ‘Rose in the Theatre’ and the uilleann pipe-driven ‘It’s Morning John’ to anthemic rock numbers such as ‘When You Need Someone’ and the U2-esque ‘The Edge of the World’. Two previously unreleased originals, ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Far Away From Here’, add fresh depth to this commemorative collection. Other notable tracks include ‘Remember Joe Strummer’, a heartfelt tribute to the Clash frontman that traces a poetic path ‘from Babylon to Avalon, via Cricklewood,’ and the infectiously catchy ‘I’m Free’, which ingeniously incorporates the beloved traditional tune ‘Inisheer’.
