Produced in under a month, this seven-track album of covers is a joyous whistle-stop tour through the energy and vibrancy of Orkesta Mendoza and the various journeys, geographical and influential, that its members have been on. In just under half an hour we're indulged with sounds that carry Mexican, Cuban, Peruvian, North American and Aegean influences via psychedelic beats, finally ending on a unique reimagining of Fleetwood Mac's ‘Tusk’.
Bandleader Sergio Mendoza says of the album that it's ‘our take on all the artists we love.’ This can certainly be heard throughout as every chorus and beat is delivered with enthusiasm and genuine craft, all bound together with beautifully produced and effortless vocal stylings that work together to deliver the band's signature indie-mambo style. The editing allows for the raw, unfiltered talents of this group to shine, providing a short but sweet, cinematic, upbeat feel-good album.
