The Bongo Hop is the stage name of Etienne Sevet, a trumpet player and producer from Bordeaux, France. Following his global travels, including a lengthy exile in Cali, Colombia, he has now released the second volume of his own version of Afro Caribbean musical fusion. While the excellent first volume from 2016 was decidedly Colombian in influence, this second outing is more diversified – and all the better for it. Part 2 opens with a song influenced by Angolan semba. It is sung by Haitian singer Kephny Eliacin giving it a compas direct flavour.

Colombian singer Nidia Góngora is retained from Part 1 and provides Spanish vocals on three tracks, while Cameroonian singer Cindy Pooch leads on two songs and Parisian MC Greg Frite raps on a Caribbean hip-hop track. The album closes with a slinky Afrobeat with Spanish vocals. The end result is an extremely well executed potpourri of danceable shuffles mixing African, zouk, salsa, and Latin hip-hop flavours.
