Fans of New Orleans-inspired jazziness, down-home countrified blues, and vaudevillian kazoo troupes will appreciate the skilful, old-fashioned endeavours of the Bumper Jacksons. They formed a few years ago when lead singer and clarinettist Jess Eliot Myhre hooked up with Chris Ousley (vocals, guitar and ukulele) to share their abiding affinity for classic early American song styles.
Joined by Alex Lacquement (bass), Brian Priebe (trombone), Dave Hadley (pedal steel) and Dan Cohan (suitcase percussion), the band expertly recreates the irresistibly nostalgic, physically compelling power of the music. Sweet Mama, Sweet Daddy, Come In is an appealing grab-bag of smooth harmony, swinging vaudevillian sass and rootsy junkyard fun.
