This collection of traditional Norwegian tunes was originally recorded in 1981. The results were never released, the master tapes lost, but thanks to the survival of a raw mix and modern audio technology, the music can finally be heard. What makes these recordings extra special is the list of artists involved, many of whom have played key roles in shaping the development of Norwegian folk music over the last four decades. Tone Hulbækmo and Hans Fredrik Jacobsen (who later married) both feature, as do master fiddler Ånon Egeland, multi-instrumentalist Per Midstigen and more. The music is wondrously spirited and infused with vibrant variances of sweetness and light. From captivating a capella numbers to wistful flutes and skittering dances, this is a first-class collection of tracks by musicians of great talent. Beautiful music from master players.
