One of Wales' most talented singer-songwriters, Gwyneth Glyn returns here with her first solo release since her Welsh/Indian collaboration, Ghazalaw, with Tauseef Akhtar (a Top of the World in #112). Tro (Turn) is the first release on the new bendigedig label. Together with the fine talents of several guest Welsh musicians, Seckou Keita's kora and other instruments such as lapsteel, banjo, crwth and bansitar bring an unexpected depth to these brooding compositions.
Taking us on an emotional and personal journey from darkness into light, Glyn's soothing and delicate tones belie lyrics that are dark, poignant and thought-provoking. A writer, poet and musician from north Wales, she has produced a collection of her most honest and intimately original folk-inspired songs yet. There is maturity here, combined with a subtle international influence running through the album. Tro sees Glyn at her darkest, worldly-wise best.
