Track Dogs, comprising Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown and Robbie K Jones – two Irishmen, an Englishman and an American, respectively – formed in the autumn of 2006. Based in Madrid, Track Dogs plays a softly sprung, easy listening style of pop-folk-jazz, which sounds slightly incongruous coming from a group whose name is derived ‘from the dark subterranean world of New York’s subway system.’
In any event, their signature sound is built around acoustic guitar, electric bass, trumpet and cajón in support of solo and harmony vocals. Over the years, they have added banjo, ukulele and mandolin to their instrumental quiver. On Where to Now?, the Dogs are joined by special guests including Cathy Jordan, English folk stalwarts Banter, members of Jones’ solo project The Potato Monsters, UK violinist Kate Moran and American vocalist Delories Dunn. String arrangements were provided and performed by Nashville-based Eli Bishop, while violinist Chris Demetriou and cellist Adrianne Wininsky from Stockport perform on ‘She Sang Songs’, ‘Less Than Equal’ and ‘At a Time Like This’.
