Stallion Era Beijing

October/2024

Reba Jicun’s debut album is a stunning blend of traditional Tibetan opera, rock, metal and Buddhist chanting. Jicun’s musical journey started from his hometown in Batang, as the proud inheritor of the traditional Reba dance and xianzi (two-stringed bowed instrument) craftsmanship. Produced by Stallion Era, the track, ‘Kawagrbo’, beautifully captures the essence of Tibetan sacred mountains, one of which the track is named after, evoking nostalgia sung in powerful vocals. ‘Quchi Langsang’ is also a stunning track where traditional storytelling opera meets heavy metal. ‘Kong’ (Emptiness), inspired by the Buddhist philosophy, also adds a profound touch to the theme of the album, which took Jicun 20 years to complete. Overall, it’s a heartfelt musical expression of what it means to be a Tibetan cultural inheritor turned rocker, and more importantly, what it means to be the wild cursive of Snowland.
